Marvel of Ming dynasty ‘discovered’ in Croydon – in a related story, one of the items in the Museum of Croydon, a “Cloisonné vase”, commissioned by Zhu Zhanji, who was Ming emperor from 1426 to 1435, and was originally brought to Britain by Raymond Francis Alfred Riesco (whose collection was donated to the museum), is now going to be the centerpiece of a major exhibit at the British Museum.
I would guess that this is one of the items the museum is looking to sell. With the current prices these works are bringing, who can blame them for ‘thinking’ about it. But thinking is probably were it should end.
