Look! Up in the sky, it’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s…. Art!?
Set to go on display in just a few days, 22,000 billboards across the UK will feature paintings as part of an “open-air” art exhibition. In a public vote, 57 works were selected including paintings by John William Waterhouse, Sir John Everett Millais, Francis Bacon, and John Singer Sargent. Art Everywhere, the group who organized the displays, feels that if they can’t get the average guy on the street into a gallery, they will have to bring the gallery to the streets. It is expected that 90% of the population will see the posters over the two weeks they will be on display. Art Everywhere’s exhibition will run from August 12th through the 25th.
