An incredible discovery was made was made at an antique shop in Paris as an art historian uncovered 2 works by Mary Beale (1633-1699), who is revered as the first professional British female artist. These compositions are done in oil on paper and were painted some time before Beale became commercially successful. Nevertheless, the two paintings of her son, Bartholomew, are an amazing find and will go on display at Tate Britain.
