BIOGRAPHY - Rasa Kluonius (B. 1965)
Born in 1965 in Vilnius, Lithuania, Rasa Kluonius grew up immersed in the vibrant culture and artistic traditions of her homeland. Surrounded by the charm of Vilnius and inspired by the Baltic Sea's mesmerizing waves, Rasa's passion for art emerged early. She began painting before she could walk, and by 1972, her talent was recognized when she joined the Art School for gifted children. Her formal education culminated in a degree from the Lithuanian State Academy of Fine Arts in 1988, marking the beginning of her professional artistic journey.
Rasa draws her primary inspiration from nature, channeling its beauty into her oil paintings, characterized by bold, textured strokes that bridge abstraction and realism. She finds beauty in every detail, a philosophy echoed in Vincent van Gogh’s sentiment: “If you truly love nature, you will find beauty everywhere.”
In 2005, Rasa opened her own studio-gallery in Long Grove, Illinois, a quaint village reminiscent of Europe. From 2007 to 2013, she became the exclusive artist-in-residence for Hilligoss Galleries in Chicago and Long Grove, achieving international acclaim and attracting collectors from the UK, Germany, Japan, Switzerland, and beyond. From 2013 to 2024, she continued her success with representation at Chicago’s Hildt Gallery.
Her work has been celebrated in Michigan Avenue Magazine, Chicago Front Desk (The Collectors), and international publications. She was featured in the International Art and Antiques Show in Chicago in 2013 and participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions across Europe and the U.S.
Now based in Houston, Texas, Rasa continues to explore and create, taking inspiration from her surroundings and her enduring love for art and nature.
