The Berkshire Saga Continues

Berkshire Museum

The Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office has requested, from the Boston Appeals Court, an extension, until the end of January, to finish their investigation into the Berkshire Museum’s desire to sell 40 important works of art.  I do not believe that museums should sell their art to fund their existence; however, I do find it odd that they are pushing to sell 40 works when “Shuffleton’s Barbershop”, one of their Norman Rockwells, has the potential of breaking the current auction record for the artist.  “Saying Grace” holds that record at $46M (sold in a December 4, 2013 sale).

There must be other ways for them to generate the money needed … a merger of sorts, with another institution, has been suggested in the past.  Why not?
