Van Gogh

It was just reported that a ‘new’ drawing has been added to the Van Gogh oeuvre.  According to an article in The New York Times the drawing, The Hill of Montmartre with Stone Quarry (which dates from 1886 – the year he arrived in Paris), was first sent to the Van Gogh Museum for research in 2012.  At the request of the then owner their findings were not released. Now, the work is in the collection of the Van Vlissingen Art Foundation and I can only assume that they wanted the information made public.

What is even more interesting, is that the discovery of this work allowed the museum to re-attribute a drawing in their collection to Van Gogh as well.
