Rubens being cleaned

A head study of the Duke of Buckingham, thought to be a copy of a lost Rubens painting, has now been authenticated as an original!  The painting is in the collection of the Glasgow Museum and has been on display at the Pollok House.

After careful analysis restoration, to remove centuries of dirt and overpainting, the work will be back on display this week at Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum.
