Letter of Resignation

The governmental fallout from the recent Charlottesville riots continues to grow. Today, a letter was sent to President Trump informing him that all members of the President’s Committee on the Arts and the Humanities, created in 1982 under President Reagan, were resigning. According to Helen Stoilas’ article in The Art Newspaper: the committee helps advise the White House on cultural issues and works directly with the government’s three primary agencies—the National Endowment for the Arts, National Endowment for the Humanities, and Institute of Museum and Library Services. Among the members of the committee were Chuck Close, Kal Penn, and Jhumpa Lahiri. A copy of the full letter is included in the article.
