Emilio Sanchez-Perrier “L’Etang a Friaucourt, Ault (Picardie)”
Source: L’Etang a Friaucourt, Ault (Picardie) – this landscape by the 19th century Spanish artist Emilio Sanchez-Perrier (1855-1907) has made its way to a new home in New York City! While many of the artist’s works feature locations in Spain, this one was painted during one of his trips to France. The specific location is Ault, a commune in the Somme department in Hauts-de-France in northern France, which is situated on the English Channel, 20 miles west of Abbeville, in Picardie. To the south of the town is a large wooded area, the ‘Bois de Cise’. Friaucourt is located a mile and a half from the coast.
