Terror be damned – the Louvre is still the world’s greatest gallery

According to Jonathan Jones’s report in The Guardian, the Louvre saw a drop in attendance due to the recent terror attacks.  The museum announced that it had 7.3 million visitors in 2016, down from 8.6 million in 2015, 9.3 million in 2014, 9.2 million in 2013 and 9.7 million in 2012.  From the numbers, it appears that it has actually been on a decline since 2012 (in case you are wondering, the Met saw a record 6.3 million visitors in 2015 … the 2016 numbers are not out yet).  For more of his thoughts on the Louvre, use the link below.
