I guess $80M was just not enough for the group of dealers who sold a long lost da Vinci that was purchased for $10,000. According to the article, Alexander Parish bought the work at a Louisiana estate sale in the early 2000s and ended up with Warren Adelson and Robert Simon as partners. The three sold the work through Sotheby’s to Yves Bouvier for $80M; in turn, Bouvier resold the painting to Dmitry Rybolovlev for a reported $127.5M.
